LIPID METABOLISM-IMPROVING AGENT AND ANGIOTENSIN TRANSFERASE-INHIBITING AGENT PREPARED FROM RED DREGS

PURPOSE: To prepare the lipid metabolism-improving agent and the angiotensin transferase-inhibiting agent capable of being utilized as food materials from red dregs discharged in a wheat starch industry. ;CONSTITUTION: The red dregs are treated with a protease and an amylase and subsequently centrifuged at a relative low rate to obtain a precipitate portion A, and the residual solution is further centrifuged at a high rate to obtain a precipitate portion B and an overflow portion. The precipitate portions A, B contain edible fibers as main components, respectively, and the overflow portion comprises water-soluble components. The portions have lipid metabolism- improving effects. The overflow portion has an angiotensin transferase-inhibiting activity, and the active ingredient, a peptide, can be separated and purified, if necessary, by chromatography using an ion exchange resin, gel filtration chromatography, reverse phase chromatography, etc.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
