PURPOSE: To obtain an estimation method in which the proof stress of a steel-pipe- pillar-beam jointed part using a long stiffner-type steel-pipe-pillar is estimated simply and properly by a method wherein the maximum proof stress of the steel-pipe- pillar-beam jointed part is computed by using a specific expression. ;CONSTITUTION: A long stiffner-type steel-pipe pillar is used as a steel-pipe pillar 100. The maximum proof stress Pcmax and the yield strength Pcy of a steel-pipe-pillar-beam jointed part are computed and estimated by Expression I and Expression II on the basis of the flange width Bf of a beam 2, the outside diameter Dp of a chopped part 1A, the pipe thickness (t) of a connection part 1B, a chopped-part-thickness increase amount hp=tp-t which has subtracted the pipe thickness (t) from the pipe thickness tp of the chopped part 1A, the wall-thickness center radius Rp of the chopped part 1A and a chopped-part excess length Lp which is smaller out of chopped-part excess lengths from both the upper and and the lower end of the beam 2 up to both the upper end and the lower end of the chopped part 1A. The radius Rp is a radius in a position which is at a distance of 1/2 of the pipe thickness tp of the chopped part 1A on the center side.
