PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an appropriate method for evaluating proof stress in a brittle member joint and a jointing method for the brittle member capable of fastening and jointing the brittle member using an appropriate number of fastening means.;SOLUTION: A sheet 5 impregnated with uncured adhesive is sandwiched between the brittle member 1 and a plate member 3 forced in the direction of the thickness of the brittle member 1. The fastening means 10 composed of an external thread member 7 and an internal thread member 9 screwed to the external thread member 7 is inserted through penetrations 2, 4, 6 formed in the brittle member 1, the sheet 5 and the plate member 3 and fastened so that the brittle member joint is fastened and jointed in the fashion the sheet 5 is sandwiched between the brittle member 1 and the plate member 3. The method for evaluating proof stress in the brittle member joint evaluates the sum of fastening force of the fastening means 10 and adhesive force of the sheet 5 as the proof stress in the brittle member joint. The jointing method for the brittle member calculates the number of the fastening means 10 and the area of the sheet 5 in order to obtain the required proof stress on the basis of the method for evaluating proof stress.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
