METHOD FOR CLEANING CONTAMINATED SOIL USING CRUSHED MICROORGANISM CELLS

PURPOSE: To clean and repair the soil at the contaminated site utilizing the merit of bioremediation with no anxiety of the secondary contamination with microorganisms by bringing the crushed cell bodies of a microorganism capable-of decomposing the pollutants into contact with the polluted soil. ;CONSTITUTION: Crushed cell bodies of microorganism containing decomposition enzymes are admixed to the soil to clean the contaminated soil. The microorganism is preferably combined with other ones capable of decomposing other kinds of contaminants. The microorganisms used here are preferably bacteria, particularly pseudomonades, for example, Pseudomonas cepacia, particularly strain KK01 (FERM-BP-4235). This treatment is most suitable for the soil contaminated with volatile organic chlorine compounds, especially trichloroethylene.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
