PURPOSE: To attain a function ratio n/k throughput in which a breakage ratio n/k is a required value smaller than 1/2 by destructing a reference ratio 1/2 remormalizing decoder and applying a breakage renormalization code to a latice erncoding modulation TCM. ;CONSTITUTION: An information bit stream on a 1st encoder pass 15 is buffered in an FIFO 14 so as to be inputted to a serial/parallel(S/P) converter 22 for outputting (N-2) bits per code through a line 24. An information bit stream on a 2nd encoder pass 17 is differentially encoded by a differential encoder 16 and then encoded by a breakage reorganizing encoder 18. The encoded 2nd information stream from the encoder 18 is buffered in an FIFO 20 so as to be inputted to the converter 22. The converter 22 applies two encoded bits per code on a line 26. Then (N-2) unencoded bits and two encoded bits outputted from the converter 22 are used for addressing a 2-symbol map ROM 28 and continuous QAM symbols A(n) are outputted.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
