The present invention relates to an assembly 11 comprising an item of furniture and a loudspeaker box 4. The item of furniture comprises a pole frame 12 around which cloth 13 is tightly wrapped and within which a support 16 is arranged to support the loudspeaker box 4. The cloth is preferably of a material which transmits sound without significantly distorting it, which is essentially not transparent and/or which is stretchable. Highly suitable materials are so-called loudspeaker fabric and stretch material which is widely used for jogging suits. The pole frame 12 around which cloth 13 is tightly wrapped can be placed on a pedestal 20. If the item of furniture must be suspended from a wall or ceiling, a projecting suspending member 27 is preferably provided instead of a pedestal 25.
