The present invention is directed to a printingcomposition, in particular, a paste printing ink vehiclefor effecting the setting of a paste printing ink bypenetration into a substrate, the vehicle utilizing avegetable oil fatty acid esterified with a simple alcoholor glycol as a solvent. The use of the esterified fattyacid as a solvent in the printing ink vehicle enables theproduction of novel petroleum distillate free pasteprinting inks having characteristics substantially similarto that of conventional petroleum distillate based printinginks.
