The sensor has a platelike cylindrical sensing element (10) of e.g. pressure-sensitive ceramic with conventional strain-gauge attachments is enclosed in a housing (12) formed of upper and lower sections (14,16) each contg. an annular groove (24) concentric with the connection (18) to a space in which the pressure is to be measured. Each groove accommodates a toroidal coil spring (22) giving a uniform distribution of gripping force on the element, which is sepd. from the lower section (16) by an O-ring (28) to prevent leakage of the pressurised fluid into the environment.
