Accident detection system for use on main roads

The system includes impact detectors mounted on the safety rails or crash barriers (7) which line a main road (12). When a vehicle strikes the crash barrier impact detectors or vibration detectors send an ultrasound or magnetic signal either by cable or wireless transmission to an electronic monitoring centre (5). The centre may include a PC which is connected to a receiver (3) and decoder (13) to accept a coded signal from the sensor. The PC is configured to produce an audible warning (14) and a visual display (15) on the PC screen.
