PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent cigarette sales to minors by noting the year, month and date of birth, the distinction of sex and the distinction of a major and the minor by a bar code to a card main body formed by synthetic resin by using the numerals of a specified digit number. ;SOLUTION: At the part of the bar code 2 on the surface of a cigarette purchase card 1 formed by the synthetic resin, the year, month and date of birth (Christian Era display), the distinction of sex and the distinction of the major and the minor are noted by using the numerals of 10 digits and a triangle mark 3 for indicating a direction is raised and noted so as to easily identify an insertion direction. Then, an instrument for reading the bar code is attached to an existing vending machine or the instrument for reading is attached inside the vending machine and the vending machine is prevented from being operated as long as the card is not completely inserted to the bar code reading instrument. Thus, the purchase of cigarettes from the vending machine by the minors becomes impossible and a measure for preventing the smoking of the minors is effectively performed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
