PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new monoclonal antibody capable of specifically reacting with methoprene as an insect growth controller, not reacting with methoprenic acid of its metabolite and capable of carrying out remarkable simplification of measurement and shortening of measuring time of residual methoprene in a food. ;SOLUTION: This new monoclonal antibody specifically reacts with methoprene represented by the formula and does not react with methoprenic acid which is a matabolite of methoprene, and is useful for rapidly and inexpensively carrying out measurement of a residual amount of methoprene as an insect growth controlling agent in a food. The monoclonal antibody is obtained by binding a methoprene derivative to ovalbumin as a carrier protein, administering the bound methoprene derivative into BALB/c mouse together with an ajuvant to immunize the mouse, collecting the spleen cell after final immunization, fusing the spleen cell with a mouse myeloma cell, culturing the fused cell in HAT medium to afford a hybridoma, selecting the antibody- producing strain, cloning the hybridoma and culturing the cloned hybridoma.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
