PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a solid electrolytic capacitor, with a built-in fuse mechanism, which enhances the uniformity of the fusing characteristic of a fuse, which simplifies a process when the fuse is attached to a capacitor element and which enhances the reliability of a connection. ;SOLUTION: An external cathode terminal 50 with a built-in fuse mechanism is manufactured in advance, and it is attached to a capacitor element 2. The structure of the cathode terminal 50 is formed to be a structure in which fuse mounting parts of two metal plates 26A, 26B face each other by keeping a prescribed distance inside the same plane, and the fusing characteristic of a fuse 27 is decided by the distance between the two metal plates 26A, 26B. A metal plate 12 with a step is interposed between the capacitor element 2 and the external cathode terminal 50, and the whole length on the side face of the capacitor element 2 is used for a connection. Thereby, it is possible to prevent the connecting area of a cathode conductor layer 4 to the cathode terminal 50 from being reduced due to a resin layer 28 at the cathode terminal 50.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
