A method of producing labels 1 formed from a number of parallel adhesive strips 3, 4, 5 applied between a continuous backing tape 6 and an applicator tape 7. The method consists of the steps of: unwinding a number of adhesive tapes 23, 24 and 25 and removing from each of these adhesive strips 3, 4, 5; the strips are directed to lie parallel on the backing tape 6 and are pressed onto it; then an applicator tape 7 is placed over the strips 3, 4, 5 on the opposite side to the backing tape 6, that is pressed onto the strips and the whole is then wound onto a bobbin 2. These operations can be carried out using equipment that comprises a first set of rotating shafts 17 carrying the reels 16 from which the adhesive tapes 23, 24, 25 are unwound, a set of devices 15 for cutting and separating the strips 3, 4, 5 from the tapes 23, 24, 25, a second set of rotating shafts 19 for rewinding the tapes 23, 24, 25, onto reels 18 after the strips 3, 4, 5 have been removed, a rotating shaft 11 for unwinding the applicator tape 7, a rotating shaft 12 for unwinding the backing tape 6 and a final shaft 10 for winding the strips 3, 4, 5 located between the backing tape 6 and the applicator tape 7 onto a reel 2.
