A wire rope supply path length adjusting device foradjusting change in length of a wire rope supply pathcaused by pivoting of a pivotable arm pivotablysupported on a base member for suspending an object tobe supported by means of wire ropes includes a pair offixed pulleys of the same diameter provided rotatablyabout axes of rotation parallel to a rotation axis ofthe pivotable arm across the wire rope supply path atpositions which are spaced from the rotation axis of thepivotable arm on the side of said base member, and apair of movable pulleys of the same diameter providedrotatably about axes of rotation parallel to therotation axis of the pivotable arm across the wire ropesupply path at positions which are spaced from therotation axis of said pivotable arm on the side of thepivotable arm. The wire ropes are caused to engage onthe pulleys on the pivoting side among the respectivepairs of pulleys and the diameters of the respectivepairs of pulleys and the distances of the respectivepairs of pulleys from the rotation axis of saidpivotable arm are selected at values at which length ofthe wire rope supply path between the respective pairsof pulleys is maintained substantially constantregardless of change in an angle of rotation of saidpivotable arm.
