A skimmer for recovering spilled oil. The skimmer is attached to the propelling vessel by a biaxial mount, which has a shaft (14) perpendicular to the center line and horizontal to the water line. The main frame of the skimmer (1) is hinged perpendicularly to the vessel shaft yoke (11). This biaxial mounting allows the nose of the skimmer to remain at a fairly uniform depth no matter from which direction waves are approaching. Pontoons (8) are placed on both sides of the skimmer and are hinged so as to pivot. The skimmer belt (2) is a mesh design. Water jets are attached to the mouth of the skimmer to direct material into the skimmer.
