The polishing machine has vertical stages for different polishing operations, with respective handling, polishing and pumicing machines. The machine has two or three or more coaxial rotary plates (11-13) which are vertically spaced and rotate intermittently and carrying handling grippers for the workpieces. Each of the rotating plates can be surrounded by workheads (21-23..). There is a work feed and a discharge feed and synchronising controls for the rotating plates and work heads.
