Sanding machine such as vibrating sander (1) with sanding element and sandpaper (10) and ultrasound generator (3) which imparts vibrations to the sanding element and refines the sanding process through these vibrations. Between sanding element and sandpaper is a mass or cushion (8) of gel which serves to convey the ultrasound vibrations betwen the generator and the sandpaper.
