The transducer is adapted to be fastened to a shock absorber of a motor vehicle. An opening is pre-formed in the shock absorber. Through this opening, a fastening sleeve (15) bound to the outer side of the shock absorber engages with the convertor housing (1) via a releasable catch (11,16). A spring is provided. This is supported with a first end on the convertor housing (1) and with its other end (21) on the inner surface of the shock absorber. The spring holds the fastening sleeve (15) on the outer surface of the shock absorber and holds the ultrasound convertor at a predetermined distance from the inner surface of the shock absorber.
