Prodn. of highly abrasion-resistant hardenable, synthetic (e.g. acrylate, polyester or polyurethane resin) lacquer coatings on solid substrate is effected by spreading a wear-reducing agent (I) directly on the substrate and then applying the lacquer or by spreading (I) on the already applied lacquer, this in each case being followed by hardening by a known technique.
