Image value correction for optoelectronic converters having defective sensor elements

The image value correction method involves replacing the erroneous image value from a defective sensor element (8) by the value from an adjacent sensor element whilst deriving image values by row and column scanning of an original using the sensor elements. To prevent errors at the light/dark boundaries, the erroneous image values from a defective sensor element are fully corrected using approximately constant intensity values in the non boundary ares and are corrected only slightly in the boundary regions.
