Breeding vessel for cultures, especially for plant and tissue cultures

There is disclosed a vessel comprising a transparent cylindrical container (CO) having a releasably fitted cap (ca). A tube (ST) extends from the lower part of the lateral wall such that it is in communication with the container (CO) via at least one, preferably two, openings in the lateral wall (O1 and O2). The side tube also has a releasably fitted cap (cp) which has a membrane (M) which can be punctured by a needle of a syringe. The openings O1 and O2 are spaced such that culture medium may be added or withdrawn from the container (CO) without the removal of cap ca; opening O2 breaks the vacuum in the tube (st). The container (CO) has a float (F) bearing a porous sheet (PS). Plant tissue is placed on tile porous sheet (PS) and is introduced to the container by removing the cap (ca). Liquid medium is introduced through the side tube to a maximum level i.e. lower than the height of opening O2.
