Several smaller frames (1) are placed in a row on the outline map. The subsequent pages of the atlas show maps with greater resolution and representing the same areas, plus if necessary any extra overlap parts, as the smaller frames on the outline map. Each subsequent page has a filing card slide-piece which rests close to the corresponding smaller frame on the outline map. It provides a correlation between the smaller frame and greater resolved map.
