The lamp holder (20) is fitted in an opening (11) in the reflector (R) of the vehicle headlamp moulded from a thermosetting plastic. The lamp holder accepts a lamp bulb (L) that provides lower power side lighting for town use. The lamp holder is made of a hard material and has a generally cylindrical body (21) with cross-section diameter the same or slightly less than the hole in the wall of the reflector. Flexible tongues (22) are formed on the outside of the cylinder. The tongue has a gently outward slope (22a) so it is compressed as the holder is inserted in the hole, then a sharp inward slope (22b) to form a lock that engages under the edge of the hole in the reflector when the holder is fully in place.
