PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive ink jet cartridge preservation box in which the function of ink jet cartridge is prevented from lowering due to storage of mist on the nozzle surface, and an ink jet recorder equipped with the ink jet cartridge preservation box. ;SOLUTION: The ink jet cartridge preservation box preserves a replaceable ink jet cartridge 1 being fixed to an ink jet recorder and jetting ink through an ink jet port. A cap 42 abutting against the ink jet port of an ink jet cartridge being contained therein and covering the jet port is made of a water absorbing gas permeable material.
