The invention relates to a device and a method for removing a coating which is bonded to the plastic body of a digital storage disc (19), by means of high-pressure water jets (23) directed onto said storage disc (19). The invention is characterized in that said storage disc (19) and said high-pressure water jets (23) are moved in relation to each other during the coating removal process. Five jet stations (11-15), a brushing station (16), a rinsing station (17) and a drying station (18) are located successively at intervals in a treatment channel (10). The storage discs (19) which are supported on pivotably mounted holding plates (24) are moved lengthwise along the jets (22) of said jet stations (11-15). In addition to this longitudinal movement, said holding plates (24) and with them said storage discs (19) are made to spin quickly. The longitudinal and spinning movements therefore occur at the same time. The invention ensures a complete removal of a coating in a very short time, without leaving residue and without damaging the plastic body of the storage disc (19).
