Device for spreading and squeezing, particularly of wet tubular knitted goods

The new machine spreads and squeezes out wet knitted hosiery. It comprises a ring shaped carrier system (1). On each of its upper and lower ends there is a mounting ring (2, 2'), driven in rotation. Parallel to these mounting rings the drive ring (5) is driven in rotation. A tubular spreader, enclosed by the drive- and mounting rings, has radially adjustable stretching rollers fastened to the roller mountings, holding one (or more) pressure rollers of a pressing unit. This works with backing rollers held by a pressing cylinder fixed to the carrier system (1). The drive of the pressing roller (3) is transmitted through the pinion (17) meshing with the drive ring. The transmission unit connects the drive through to the pressing roller (3). The novelty centres on the transmission unit, which is a universally-jointed shaft (12), or else a flexible shaft drive. The propeller shaft (12) links between bevel gearing systems (11, 11'), and is driven from the pinion (17) engaging the drive ring (5). The output turns the pressing roller (3). The flexible shaft version, effects a similar transmission. There may be an intermediate pinion (16) between drive ring (5) and drive pinion (17). The carrier system (1) is upwardly-extended, the pinion (17) at its upper end.
