In the manufacture of a housing for the servo equipment of a radio-controlled unit for a model vehicle, a cut plastic film section, preferably of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer(ABS), is thermoformed in a solid phase pressure forming process to produce a housing shell(27) with a collar-like region(26) at the surrounding edge and after installing the servo equipment(29) a flat film section(24) is welded, bonded or clipped onto the collar-shaped region. In an process variation two separate housing shells are thermoformed, the servo equipment is positioned inside and the shells are placed together with their open edges overlapping before welding, bonding or clipping together. A housing (claimed) comprises a cylindrical or prismatic shell(27) of thermoformed plastic film, especially ABS, with a surrounding edge region(26) on the open side and a flat film cover(24) welded, bonded, or clipped to the edge region. Openings or bores(28,28') in the housing parts a nd/or the cover(24) allow passage of the servo equipment shaft(29) and/or cables. A further claimed housing comprises two thermoformed shells of plastic film, especially ABS, each with flange-like edge areas around the opposing open ends which are bonded, welded or clipped together to connect both shells. In another housing design the surrounding edge area of one housing shell is slightly widened relative to the second shell, enabling one to slide inside the other before connecting both shells as previously described.
