Automotive disc brake disc incorporates numerous ribs enhancing the stiffness

A disc (20) which forms part of an automotive disc brake, generates a vibration with a major component in the axial direction of rotation when a brake pad is pressed against the disc. The brake disc has a cap section (22)which is secured to the vehicle hub axle. Brake pads pressing on a sliding section (41;132) generate a braking force, and linked (40) to the cap section. The linkage is stiffened by numerous ribs (52,84,92,102). One section (138,142,156,164 and 174) has less stiffness than the sliding section (41,132).
