The cover device has fixing elements (27,28) formed as flat rods, and the fastening device additionally has retaining elements which in the assembled state, for fixing of the cover tarpaulin (3) on the lorry container extend through loops (15,16) and through the flat rods located in the latter, and into the container. The retaining elements are screw or rivet connections. The tarpaulin has at least three surfaces (8-10) interconnected in one piece and comprise a cover surface for the top and two for the sides.
