The method involves separating a trailer (1) from a trailer-tractor (6) after reaching a setting position on a railway truck and supporting in a region of connection with the trailer-tractor. The trailer-tractor is rolled from a setting region of the trailer in a longitudinal direction of the railway truck and reached to the setting position. The trailer-tractor is lifted in an area above a side of the railway truck. The trailer-tractor is moved and lowered vertically in a region outside a clearance profile of the railway truck. An independent claim is also included for a device for loading trailers on a railway truck.
