The hearing aid or part of it to be worn inside the ear has a tubular sleeve (6,23,42,62). When inserted, this sleeve comes to lie against the wall of the ear passage (2). The sleeve has a variable cross-section so that the hearing aid can be fixed inside the ear. The part of the hearing aid which ends up nearest the ear drum, when in place, preferably has a protective cover (9,27), made of, e.g. a rubber grid, which allows sound and air to pass through. A spacer (28) may also be provided between the end (25) of the hearing aid nearest the ear drum and the protective cover (9,27).
