The method involves integrating a unit with an RF transceiver and a microphone within a ball. The unit is positioned inside the ball using a flexible mounting device. An RF receiver is positioned near to the playing area and receives signals transmitted by the unit within the ball and reforms audio signals corresponding to the ambient environment picked up by the microphone. The unit is actuated by an acceleration sensor and the transmitter supply circuit includes a timer which times for a predetermined period after activation. The unit includes a switch which is accessible across the ball air valve.
