Preservation of cut plants and flowers, especially those with white flowers

Cut plants and flowers are preserved by a solution based on polyols in which the level of water is at least 10 wt.% w.r.t. mass of plant. Also claimed are (i) preservation involving partial dehydration; and (ii) a floral composition containing flowers preserved as above. Preferably the water level in the preservative is at least equal to 20 wt.%. The plants have 20-70 wt.% tripropylene glycol; and 15-75 wt.% polyethylene glycol as preservatives (in relation to mass of dry material). The plant contains = 7 wt.% cellulose. The white flowering plant also contains preferably a tiny amount of sodium hypochlorite and/or formic acid and/or one or several cationic colourants.
