The casing for a portable telephone is intended to protect against shocks, and is made of a latex or rubber in order to offer a degree of elasticity. The casing comprises a cuboid structure with rounded corners, and includes a rectangular aperture (2b) allowing access to the keypad of the telephone, and a further aperture allowing access to the charging point on the base of the telephone. The casing also has a window aperture (2a) so that the telephone display screen can be seen, and a further side aperture (6a) allowing access to the volume control of the telephone handset. Two cut-away sections (4a,4b) in the top of the casing allow the aerial to project from the casing. The casing may be carried by a tongue attached to the back surface but a rivet.
