PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a limitation current type oxygen sensor that has less deterioration of an electrode due to a corrosive gas being included in gas to be measured and can measure the concentration of oxygen precisely and widely for a long time. ;SOLUTION: An oxygen sensor is provided with an oxygen diffusion speedcontrolling layer 1 consisting of the fine body of a mixed conductive oxide for conducting an oxide ion and an electron ion and a detection part 40 of a solid electrolyte gas sensor for detecting an oxygen gas. Then, the oxygen diffusion speed-controlling layer 1 is constituted so that it covers an ionization electrode 4 of a detection part 40 of the solid electrolyte gas sensor or the oxygen diffusion speed-controlling layer 1 forms an ionization electrode 4, thus reducing the amount of oxide ion transmission per unit time of the oxygen diffusion speed-controlling layer 1 so that it becomes smaller than the amount of ion transmission per unit time of the solid electrolyte of the detection part 40 under operation conditions.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
