METHOD FOR JUDGING DENOMINATION AND AUTHENTICITY OF PAPER MONEY AND DEVICE THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the judging precision of the denomination and authenticity of paper money. ;SOLUTION: A cash denomination and authenticity judging device 1a is provided with an infrared sensor 9 and a microcomputer 12 having a storage means 15. The infrared sensor 9 reads a design on a line in a prescribed direction from among designs plotted on paper money, and detects a featured pattern related with the design. The storage means 15 stores a reference pattern for each denomination in plural lines. At the time of judging the denomination and authenticity of paper money, the most approximating reference pattern is selected by a selecting means 26 provided in the microcomputer 12. Then, the selected reference pattern is compared with the featured pattern by a comparing and judging means 13, and the denomination and authenticity of paper money is judged.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
