PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need to take a site survey over a wide range to improve the efficiency of a project plan, and to lower the cost by narrowing down a specific area by putting data of different maps of the same area one over another. ;SOLUTION: A drawing obtained by land classification basic investigation is put over a buried cultural property place map. Namely, a land use map 20,a surface layer geological feature map 30, a soil distribution map 40, a water system and valley density map 50, an oblique section map 60, and a map 70 showing changes of natural environment are put over the buried cultural property place map 10 (by using transparent sheets or a computer) so that respective data can be referred to. Ranges wherein ancient people could not live because of rivers, slopes, etc., are excluded from buried cultural property places in consideration of factors regarding the land use map 20, surface layer geological feature map 30, soil distribution map 40, water system and valley density map 50, and map 70 showing changes of natural environment to specify living ranges above and below the ground and water surface, thereby narrowing down ranges where ancient people lived.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
