MANUFACTURE OF OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE TYPE FILTER, AND OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE FILTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the optical waveguide type filter which is manufactured with good reproductivity and has small insertion loss and its manufacture. ;SOLUTION: To manufacture the optical waveguide type filter which is equipped with optical waveguides differing in optical length, and demultiplexes a signal light to the optical waveguides, multiplexes signal light having been propagated through the respective optical waveguides, and selects a signal light according to wavelength, the optical waveguides are formed first and the wavelengths of their output light are measured. Then the optical waveguides are etched from the surfaces according to the measured wavelengths of the output light and a clad 1 on a core 2, the width of at least one of the clad 1 on the core 1 and the core 2 is adjusted. Thus, the optical waveguides are made different in equivalent refractive index and the wavelength of the signal light can be matched with the center wavelength of the passing bands of the optical waveguide type filter.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
