ADHESION INHIBITOR OF PATHOGENIC MICROORGANISM OF PERIODONTAL DISEASE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject adhesion inhibitor, capable of preventing pathogenic microorganisms of periodontal disease from adhering to the surfaces of teeth by brushing or coating, by allowing a shellac to be included in a dentifrice. ;SOLUTION: This adhesion inhibitor contains a shellac preferably in 0.5-5 wt.% in a dentifrice. The dentifrice, for example, includes an abrasive, a moistening agent, a foaming agent, a tacky agent, a flavor, a preservative, a medicinal component or the like, and has a form of a get, a paste, a powder, a liquid or a spray. The shellac is a resinous material obtained by purifying the secretion product covering the body of Laccifer lacca. The adhesion inhibitor can be prepared by dissolving the shellac in propylene glycol or the like, and carrying out a process as well as that of the conventional dentifrice. The surfaces of teeth are coated with the shellac and smoothened by brushing with the adhesion inhibitor and coating the adhesion inhibitor on the surfaces of teeth, and as a result, the adhesion of a leftover food, which becomes a source material for propagation of microorganisms, can be prevented from attaching to the teeth.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
