PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means, by which La addition into molten steel can be applied in good yield and with good workability. ;SOLUTION: An Fe-La-Al alloy for steelmaking containing 30-70 mass % La, 5-20 mass % Al and, if necessary, the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, is used as an La additional material. The La is added into the molten steel by dropping and charging the Fe-La-Al alloy block divided into suitable small sizes onto the molten steel surface. As the applying kind of steel, particularly, a ferritic stainless steel containing 15-26 mass % Cr and 2-6 mass % Al is exemplified.
