Derivatives of the antibiotics LL-E33288 of the general formula I in which W represents a group of the formula II in which R @ 1 is 1. is a hydrogen atom or a group of formula III; is a hydroxyl group when R 5 is. represents a hydrogen atom or an R.sub.4 atom. and R.sub.5.n. together form a carbonyl group and X represents an iodine atom or a bromine atom, R represents a hydrogen atom or a branched or unbranched alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms which is optionally substituted with 1 to 3 hydroxyl or carboxyl groups, and . means a methyl group, an ethyl group or a CH (CH 2) 2 subgroup, with the proviso that when R 1 is 1. means a group of formula III, R.sub.2. is an ethyl group, R5 is. and R.sub.5.n. together represent a carbonyl group and X represents an iodine atom, then R does not represent a methyl group.
