Apparatus and methods for utilizing energy originating from walking. The apparatus includes a pump (22), which is actuated by walking movements to pump a fluid. The pump (22) may include at least one pillow (28, 30) containing the fluid. Preferably, the at least one pillow includes a pneumatic insole (25) formed of a rear upright arch (28) and a forward downward arch (30). The rear and front arches each contain a respective fluid pillow, such that during walking, the rear arch is flattened, and the front arch is bent, thereby driving fluid out of the respective pillows.
