The spinal cage implant (1) comprises a central part (3c) with walls (4) and terminal parts (5,6) for bearing against the cortical bone of the vertebral end plates. The central part is adapted to penetrate the vertebral end plates and transversely projects from the terminal bearing parts. Implant bears against the vertebral end plates with terminal parts and contains bone graft material between walls which penetrate the openings in the end plates and permit bone fusion between the two vertebrae. Independent claims are also included for an insertion tool, and methods of spinal fusion.
