PURPOSE:To measure cytotoxicity protecting ability simply, safely and in a short time by measuring thrombomojulin liberated during damage of vascular endothelial cell. CONSTITUTION:A vascular endothelial cell derived from bovine abdominal aorta, etc., is cultured in an Eagle minimum essential medium containing bovine fetal serum to give a culture mixture (A). Then, the component A is blended with a medium containing a cytotoxic substance (B) such as t-butylhydroperoxide and cultured to give a culture specimen (C). On the other hand, an enzyme such as peroxidase of horseradish as a label is bonded to a desired antibody to give a labeled antibody (D). Then the component D and the component C are blended and subjected to enzymatic immune reaction and thrombomojulin is measured to determine vascular endothelial phytotoxicity protecting ability of specimen to be tested.
