HOST SIGNAL PROCESSING MODEM USING SOFTWARE CIRCULATING BUFFER AND DIRECT SAMPLE TRANSFER FOR MAINTAINING COMMUNICATION SIGNAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a host signal processing communication system which can maintain a communication link. ;SOLUTION: The invented host signal processing(HSP) communication system has a host computer 10 which executes the software part of an HSP modem and a device including a digital-analog converter(DAC) 137. In response to an interrupt, the host executes an update routine which generates and writes a sample to a software circulating buffer in a memory of the host computer 110. The sample represents the amplitude of an analog signal based upon a desired communication protocol. Through direct transfer, the sample is moved from the software circulating buffer to a hardware circulating buffer and the DAC 137 converts the sample into an analog communication signal from the hardware circulating buffer.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
