PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a barrier rib forming material having excellent chemical resistance, mechanical properties, substrate adhesiveness, shape holding properties and capable of providing a highly accurate barrier, and to provide a manufacturing method of a barrier rib of a plasma display panel having excellent productivity and workability and capable of providing a highly accurate barrier rib with high yields. ;SOLUTION: This barrier rib forming material contains acrylic resin containing a substituent expressed by the formula (R in the formula indicates 1-20C alkylene group) so that a hydroxyl value of the substituent is 1-10 mgKOH/g, inorganic material, and organic solvent. In this manufacturing method of a barrier rib of a plasma display panel, the barrier rib forming material is implanted in an interval of resin patterns formed on a substrate and is dried. Then the resin patterns are eliminated to form a pattern containing the barrier forming material and it is baked to form the barrier rib.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
