The glass composition, P_2O_5-ZnO-BaO-Al_2O_3-SiO_2, was examined as a potential replacement for PbO-based glass frit for plasma display panels (PDP). The composites containing ceramic fillers (Al_2O_3 and TiO_2) were evaluated for Young's modulus (E) and hardness (H) using an indention method with a nanoindenter. The value of elastic modulus and hardness both increased (≈67GPa, 5GPa) as the sintering temperature (540-600℃) increased. Minimum porosity was obtained at the temperature of 560℃ which is near Littleton softening point (Ts) of glass frit. The results suggest that the Pb-free glass frit would be applicable for barrier rib materials in PDP.
