PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a metal back film smooth, free from occurrence of a blister at the time of coating of a film and high in reflectance by incorporating a specific hydroxyethyl cellulose in an emulsion for cathode ray tube filming made primarily of an acrylic emulsion. ;SOLUTION: This emulsion for cathode ray tube filming, which is primarily made of an acrylic emulsion, is obtained by subjecting (meth)acrylic acid and its ester, and an ethylenically unsaturated monomer in an aqueous medium containing 0.1 to 6 wt.% of an anionic and/or nonionic emulsifier to emulsion polymerization in the presence of 0.05 to 3 wt.% of a free radical initiator. Then, 0.01 to 1.0 wt.%, preferably 0.1 to 0.7 wt.%, of hydroxyethyl cellulose, which has a Z average molecular weight of 400,000 to 800,000 by measurement of the molecular weight with GPC, a ratio between the Z average molecular weight and the weight average molecular weight of 2.2 to 4.0, and a viscosity of an aqueous solution thereof at a concentration of 7.5 wt.% (25°C) of 1,200 to 3,000, is compounded in the emulsion.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
