PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a blended yarn having excellent water absorbability and useful for woven or knitted fabrics having excellent soft touches, draping property, tension and stiffness.;SOLUTION: This blended yarn having water absorbability comprises (A) polyester multifilaments which extend on a dry thermal treatment at 160°C and (B) polyester multifilaments which shrink on the dry thermal treatment at 160°C. The polyester multifilaments A in the blended yarn have fine grooves in the direction rectangular to the filament axes. The blended yarn, and a woven fabric using the blended yarns as warps and/or wefts satisfy the following relationships. (The blended yarn); the single filament fineness of the polyester multifilaments A: 0.2 to 1.0 denier, SHD (A)0%, 40%≥SHD(B)≥5%, and 45%SHD(B)-SHD(A)≥5%. (The woven fabric); the number of the single filaments of the polyester multifilaments A occupying the warp: 5,000-30,000 filaments/cm.
