PURPOSE: To improve strength at a high temp. and workability at ordinary temp. by subjecting a slab of a ferritic stainless steel, where the relationship among C, N, Ti, and Nb is specified, to rolling and to annealing under respectively specified conditions. ;CONSTITUTION: The ferritic stainless steel has a composition containing, by weight, ≤0.02% C, ≤0.02% N, 11-21% Cr, and 0.05-0.5% Ti and/or 0.1-1.0% Nb and satisfying C/12+N/14 ≤Ti/48+Nb/93. A slab of steel with the above composition is heated up to 1220-1250°C and hot-rolled at 850-950°C finishing temp. The resulting steel plate is coiled at ≤550°C and then cold-rolled at 50-70% draft by using rolls for rolling, having ≥100mm roll diameter. Subsequently, cold rolled sheet annealing is applied at a temp. between (recrystallization temp. + 50°C) and (recrystallization temp. + 150°C).
